Who We Are

Hurd Oilfield Service is a 3rd generation, family owned corporation which began serving the oilfield industry 75 years ago. The company provides crane, trucking, and equipment services to the North Texas area.

Hurd Oilfield Service is dedicated to the principles set forth by its founder, H.D. Hurd. We pride ourselves in our experience, dedication to service, commitment, attention to detail.

History

It all started when Henry (H.D.) Hurd moved to Jacksboro, Texas and partnered with his high school friend to start Roy Wood Welding in 1947. The two utilized leftover WW2 equipment to provide welding services to the local oilfield. In 1956, H.D. purchased all interest in the company and changed the name to Hurd Oilfield Service. The company grew to a fleet of welders and roustabout service who also manufactured gates, cattle guards, and a patented concrete block which supported pumping units, the Port-A-Block.

H.D. suddenly passed away in 1967, leaving his wife, Mildred, to oversee the company. The company remained the same until, 1976, when son, Henry R. Hurd, moved back to Jacksboro. Henry brought road construction experience to the company. Services soon added to the company included: motor grader, gravel hauling, backhoe, winch trucks, heavy hauling, safety anchors, and others.

In 1997, Henry, along with his son Brent, saw an opportunity to include crane service. Soon after the explosion in exploring the Barnett Shale in North Texas was perfect timing. Modern innovation and new industry regulations created a demand for what Hurd Oilfield Service was positioned in the area to provide, cranes.

Today, Hurd Oilfield Service remains primarily dedicated to the oilfield industry. Cranes, trucking, gravel hauling and equipment service are the focus of the company. Equipment Sales include production tanks, cattleguards, metal sales, and manufactured Port-A-Blocks.
